Rosemary & Sage Facial Steam

– Stay fresh faced throughout the year

A facial steam warms your face, not only does it relax you but it also increases your circulation.

It’s a great way to rid yourself of toxins and the steam prevents the moisture from escaping from your face. The skin does not renew itself as easily once you enter yours 30s and the blood circulation also reduces, so steaming can help improve blood circulation by dilating the blood vessels, which results in better blood flow and helps the skin to look supple and young. You can also use a diffuser, permeating the entire room with the aroma of rosemary and sage.

I love the natural healing properties of rosemary and sage and tend to use essential oil together with fresh herbs. If using oil, use 2 drops of rosemary oil and 1 drop of sage oil. If using only fresh herbs, take about 3 tablespoons of rosemary and the same amount of sage, or if you grow your own, grab a handful from the garden to make a gloriously scented concoction. Keep your face about 20-30 centimetres over the steaming water, topping the bowl up from time to time with hotter water. After just 10 minutes you should feel refreshed, clear headed and satisfied you’ve done your bit to combat the dehydrating effects of central heating.
