A Little Taste of Easter

the very essence of spring is Easter

We spent the winter wrapped in blankets, with our cats snuggled up in front of a roaring fire. The days have been short and the light scarce, as spring opens her eyes we are immersed in a joyous display of golden daffodils, crocuses and bluebells.

Longer days have finally arrived and the sun rays are intrinsically rejuvenating our pale winter cheeks. Seeing the burgeoning buds on the trees and shrubs and the fresh young shoots bravely poking through the dark earth brings on a rush of happiness. A little thrill that allows me to envision bright sunlight and warmer times ahead.

The very essence of spring is Easter for me and I love to celebrate its long awaited arrival. We celebrate in our usual traditional style in our little cottage in Buckinghamshire, where the table is a mix of French, Provençal and British cuisine surrounded by an eclectic bunch of friends from Brazil to France and Sicily, and of course England. We make new memories, tell stories till the light of dawn and bathe in laughter…

oh, and of course eat.

table decorations...

I guess Easter and the May bank holidays are a little reminiscent of Christmas where I feel like I go back to my childhood with the seasonal

spirit it brings. I love adorning our little cottage with the essence of spring and bringing sunshine onto our table and into our home.

Let’s not wait for Christmas to get creative with our decorations, every gathering and every meal is an opportunity to spruce up our table with beautiful objects, linen, foliage and flowers, so these spring breaks are just one more excuse to play with table decorations and I simply adore them.

Gathering moss, selecting branches of hazel and forsythia and placing them eclectically amongst the cutlery and crockery is my perfect way to pass the time.

A well-lived day is medicine unto itself.

keep it natural

Use an assortment of eggs to decorate your table. Quail eggs, duck eggs and coloured eggs. You can also buy mock eggs that you could re-use year after year.

To give an authentic feel, add hay and a few feathers to achieve that pure & natural look.

fresh herbs

Fresh herbs are a beautiful way to decorate your spring table, not only will they enhance the senses and bring a delicious aroma to your dining experience but also you will be able to reuse the herbs throughout the following days.

Make sure you use small glasses with not too much water at the bottom and put them back into the fridge at the end of the day.

I love adorning our little cottage with the essence of spring and bringing a little sunshine onto our table and into our home.
